Happy Fourth of July! What are you up to this holiday? Since the holiday is on a Wednesday this year (which looks way too suspicious if you call in "sick" on Thursday), I am taking it easy and spending time with friends, barbecued meats, and lots of cocktails.

Last night as an Independence Day pre-game, I went to the Hollywood Bowl with my roomie and her family to watch Barry Manilow in concert with fireworks - I can't even make that up, and it was awesome. It wasn't even the first time I had seen him in concert...

I hope that your Fourth of July is relaxing and filled with lots of fireworks! Tell me, what are you up to?

Flashback: Celebrating Mother's Day Two Decades Ago

This weekend we celebrated Mother's Day. While I was unsure if I could visit the family down in San Diego for this holiday, I was pleasantly surprised to be able to go down for brunch with my mom and my grandma. We enjoyed quiche and Bloody Marys mixed with great conversation and the occasional quip or dirty joke made by my grandma.

Here are some old photos of my mom and I (and of my younger sister). It's always fun to reminisce on the past and look at how much we've all changed throughout the years.
